What Is Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is an approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. “Functional medicine recognizes that there may be one condition that has many causes, and that there can be one cause that creates many conditions. For example, depression can be caused by antibiotic use, pre-diabetes, vitamin d deficiency, low thyroid, or omega 3 deficiency. And inflammation can cause heart disease, depression, arthritis, cancer or diabetes.”
Functional Medicine does not treat symptoms directly, but as a side effect of treating the cause of the symptom which will in turn treat the symptom. Functional medicine looks at all the body’s systems, focuses on a preventative approach, and is patient centric..
What We Do
Functional Medicine is not well known because it’s kind of new. While our root philosophy is based in functional medicine (one of the most dynamic fields right now), we use more of an integrative approach which we call Integrative Functional Wellness. It’s not symptom based and requires a medical team of specialists. We believe in providing you the absolute best approach to what you need and then proceed from there and add on if necessary. This lets us prioritize and find out what’s going on with you while keeping costs low.
Mainstream medicine takes care of your symptoms, it’s for people who just kind of want to feel better and not go through the long drawn out process of what’s really going on beneath the surface. The majority of people are in this category because they want a quick let’s do something about this until I feel good, the body will deal with the rest type of mentality. But we’ve come to a point in society where we have too many chemicals, too many infections, too many things in the body that are driving disease and it’s just a lot of trouble.
All these things come together to create an integrated problem, and integrative medicine is really what it takes now to create real solutions. It’s no longer as simple as there is this one disease or symptom, it is multiple things compounding one top of each other creating multiple symptoms and causes that could be easily misread on tests and mis-diagnosed by physicians.

How It Works
At Just For The Health Of It we really check everything and it all starts with your initial visit. In this visit we’ll basically find out everything about your lifestyle, your symptoms, and your condition(s).
We will then run any tests necessary, and not guess but know for sure what you are dealing with.
Finally, we will create a treatment and a plan which may include supplements to meds to other therapies, specialists or modalities necessary.
